However, these are unrelated to any homeowner's deductible and should not be seen as "deductible coverage."
JP Construction specializes in working with homeowners that have sustained certain types of residential storm damage, namely hail damage. We provide our construction expertise to the consumer and we will, upon request, prepare an estimate for storm damage-related repairs.
Additionally, the "Vinyl Cost Calculator Tool" on this website is a general tool to allow homeowners to get a very ROUGH idea of how much their siding project may cost. The estimate reflects a ratio of exterior square feet versus interior square feet inputted by the consumer. Therefore, the estimate generated through the tool may vary greatly from a "true estimate" that we would provide. A true estimate can only be given and certified by a JP Construction representative while on location of the property in question. Hail Storm in New Jersey (NJ) July 1, 2016- Hainesport, Lumberton, Eastampton
A severe hailstorm damaged several areas of southern New Jersey on July 1st, 2016. 1-inch hail was reported in Hainesport and Lumberton and 1.25-inch hail was reported for Eastampton Township. To offer some perspective, 1-inch hail is generally compared to the size of a quarter while that of 1.25 inches is about the size of a golf ball.
It should be noted that while the main reports list the three above-mentioned towns, as with most larger storm cells, several other areas were struck by hail with varying degrees of magnitude. See below for the estimated storm swath, courtesy of StormerSite.com.
As you can see, the storm affected a much larger area than that which the basic storm reports will give credit for. It appears to have struck as far south as Washington Township and as far north as (close to) Bordentown Township, while hitting several points in between, including parts of Voorhees, Evesham, Mt. Laurel, Mt. Holly, Cherry Hill, Willingboro and Burlington to name a few.
It should also be noted that this particular storm swath is one that is offered for free. Other swaths that are likely more accurate actually show more details about the true nature of this storm as well as more detailed assessments of the hail size per geography. Some hailstones within this storm are actually reported at 1.5" and even 1.75".
Below is a video of a the storm hitting Mt. Holly
Hail of this magnitude can and does damage asphalt shingle roofing systems as well as exterior aluminum of a housing structure- most notably siding and exterior trim capping. Some exterior vinyl siding can sustain damage from these types of storms as well.
Besides the size of the actual hailstones, other factors that may determine the amount of damage from a given hail event are the density of the hail, the strength of the driving winds and the duration of the hail event.
If you live somewhere within this storm's path, you likely have sustained some form of hail damage. It is important to note that exterior hail damage is typically not completely obvious to the average consumer. Damage to a roofing shingle can be determined by a trained professional and can almost never bee seen from the ground. Still, this damage can severely undermine the functionality of a roofing shingle while also depleting the lifespan of the roof as well.
If left unrepaired, future damage such as a roof leak may not be covered by an insurance carrier as it may be seen as secondary damage that was caused by primary damage (hail damage) that was never addressed in the first place. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you have your house inspected by a professional before you assume that your house has not sustained damage.
Hail damage to aluminum siding can be very subtle, especially in certain lighting situations.
However, when viewing a hail-damaged elevation of siding, the wall that initially looks normal can suddenly appear ravaged as the lighting changes. Homeowners often notice hail damage on their own if they happen to glance upon their siding at a particular time of day or when the angle of the sun is just right, or at night, when an exterior light fixture shines upon a damaged elevation. If noticed after the statute of limitations which can vary by insurance carrier, a homeowner will not be covered.
The lesson here is to have your home inspected by a professional to determine whether or not your house has sustained sufficient damage to justify a claim- and do so promptly! When choosing this professional, the average house inspector may not be the most qualified person to perform a hail damage inspection. While most home inspectors are knowledgeable about structural, termite or mold hazards, hail damage is a totally different sector and should be assessed by someone that has experience within the residential hail damage industry.
Of course, a hail damage contractor or a home improvement contractor that specializes in hail damage recovery is often a smart choice for a homeowner looking to receive a free and honest assessment of their potential hail damage situation. When looking up such contractors, you'll likely learn quickly that several contractors claim to be "hail damage experts." It is important to remember, however, that expertise comes with experience.
When choosing a contractor to perform a hail damage inspection, you want to make sure that they are knowledgeable, not only about hail damage itself, but about the hail damage claim process. Working with insurance companies and their representatives to negotiate a fair settlement is an art unto itself and, assuming you have sustained damage, you want to choose a contractor that can act intelligently on your behalf to ensure that you receive proper compensation for the damage you sustained- that way you can repair your house fully and properly.
Aside from being knowledgeable about hail damage and the hail damage claim process, it is absolutely vital that your contractor is reputable and performs high-quality work with name brand materials. Too often, consumers get sucked into using a contractor because of all the promises of free work, that they forget to vet the contractor before it's too late. Sure, many contractors (including reputable ones) offer a cost-free guarantee when it comes to hail damage insurance jobs but if a contractor performs sub-par work or is simply incompetent, all the "free" in the world won't fix your situation.
In short you need to hire a reputable and experienced contractor to ensure that you not only receive fair and proper compensation from your insurance company but also that you receive a quality installation with superior customer service.

About Us - JP Construction, DE, MD, PA and NJ Exterior Remodeling Contractors
I'm Joe Paoletti. I founded JP Construction in 2005. We focused primarily on performing insurance related repairs, mainly hail damage. So, in our time in business we have performed millions of dollars worth of repairs to customers' roofing, siding and gutters.
When performing insurance work, you can't mess around! As an insurance restoration contractor, you don't get paid until the customer, the insurance company and sometimes even the mortgage company are satisfied that the work is done properly. So, naturally, we made sure that we performed all work correctly, timely and to every customer's 100% satisfaction.
And we carry this same philosophy into all of our projects. At JP, we treat every project as if it were OUR house that we were working on. That is why we only use true trades craftsmen- qualified mechanics with decades of experience. This way, we ensure that the quality of our work is always top-notch.
We also have obtained several accreditations and affiliations over the years. JP Construction is a Mastic Elite Contractor, a GAF Certified Contractor and is an A+ rated accredited business with the BBB. Also, I am certified through VSI (the Vinyl Siding Institute) as an installer.
I've have been in the Construction industry for over 25 years. My father owns a construction company, as did his father before him. I worked in the field as a laborer and installer growing up, so I understand the value of hard work, doing things the right way and making sure things get done properly, while always respecting the property of the customer.

Accreditations and Affiliations - JP Construction, MD, DE and PA Exterior Remodeling Contractors
At JP Construction, we have aligned ourselves with some of the best names and brands in the industry. Below helps to explain what sets JP Construction apart from the others.
They were very respectful of our property and cleaned up when they were finished each step. (The Andersons, AL) The work was completed as scheduled with all phases coordinated smoothly. (The Rufos, AL) Those are just a couple quotes from satisfied customers that left reviews for us on Angie's List. Most of you are probably familiar with Angie's List. Angie's List is considered one of the most reliable ways to find a quality contractor (as well as other professionals) on the internet. No company can pay to be listed on Angie's List. In fact, it is the consumer that pays. Therefore, the reviews tend to be more trustworthy than others. If you are a consumer that is considering home improvements, you may want to seriously consider joining Angie's List. Visit Angie's List here.
Did you know that vinyl siding is NOT supposed to be installed tightly. That's right! There is supposed to be about 1/32 of an inch between the nail-head and the siding panel. This way, the siding is allowed to move up to 1/2 of an inch in either direction due to expansion and contraction. When installed improperly, you get bubbles, waviness and other problems and issues. The Vinyl Siding Institute, or VSI, is the trade association for vinyl siding. They set a standard of how vinyl siding is supposed to be installed. Joe Paoletti, President and Co-founder of JP Construction, is certified by VSI as an installer. Many people think they know how to install siding. However, only certified installers can truly tout this expertise. Visit the Vinyl siding Institute here.
JP Construction is a Mastic Elite Contractor. Elite Contractors are held to a higher standard than "normal" contractors. We are required to maintain an "A" rating or higher with the BBB and someone on staff must be certified through the Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) as an installer. And, since we use predominantly Mastic siding products, you know that you are getting a great product from a contractor you can trust. The Mastic brand is owned by PlyGem, one of the largest building product companies in the world. You know a company like PlyGem and a brand like Mastic won't let just anyone become an Elite Contractor. Mastic is continuously working to improve the quality of their products as well as the selection that they are able to offer. As a Mastic Elite Contractor, JP has access to the entire Mastic selection. Go to Mastic.com here.
Ever heard of Yelp? You probably know them more for their restaurant reviews and ratings but they are much more than that. They offer customer based feedback on a plethora of local businesses including home improvement contractors like us. Here is one of our reviews: "JP Construction delivered exactly what they said they would: professional, quality and friendly service. We could't be more happy with the outcome of our house. The guys worked fast and efficient and cleaned up everything afterwards. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to get their siding done" To see more about JP Construction on Yelp, go here.
